InvestUK to launch the Education Bond® programme to 1,000 students and parents at British Council events in China.
As the new academic year approaches, the British Council will be running a series of Pre-Departure Brieﬁngs for Chinese students about to travel and enrol at top UK schools and universities for their ﬁrst year of study. The Pre-Departure Brieﬁngs are interactive talks about life and culture in the UK for students. Most students are accompanied by their parents.
InvestUK are proud sponsors of two of the brieﬁng events in Guangzhou and Beijing which are anticipated to attract over 1,000 students and to provide helpful information which will facilitate their arrival and transition to the UK. The British Council’s education programmes play a leading role in promoting UK education to Chinese students and in developing cultural exchange initiatives. As sponsors, InvestUK will be speaking at each event and will have an information booth in the “Oh My UK” Experience Zone.

Rupert Gather, Executive Chairman of InvestUK, who will be addressing the audiences at both events, will be explaining the UK Government’s visa options for students while they study and the options that are available after.
He will also be introducing the InvestUK “Education Bond® Programme”, presenting the beneﬁts and the opportunity it presents to invest, fund the UK education and simultaneously convert to the UK government’s Tier 1 investor visa (with Indeﬁnite Leave to Remain) from the standard, limited Tier 4 student visa.
InvestUK will also be associated with the British Council’s Generation UK – China academic scholarship programmes. The prestigious study abroad programme encourages British students to study and work in China with scholarships covering tuition fees, accommodation, and a basic monthly living allowance to help with day-to-day expenses. The Education Bond® will oﬀer Bondholders the opportunity to convert part of their interest earned into a donation to the scholarship programme.
